Proposal for 5 minute webisode
The magical journey through further education
This 5 part webisode series will be all about the journey from being at school deciding what you are going to do after school and whether to go down the road of further education or not. We will be following three school kids through this process of a college course that they have chosen and understanding the good, the bad and the ugly parts of a college course right up until the point where they have left college and starting something new like a university course or a new job in the sector that they studied at the college.
The presenter for this series will have to be someone serious and also have the skills to be able to talk to teenagers about future options and what they want to do with their lives without talking down to them. This will be critical due to the fact that the students don’t want to be forced into doing anything they don’t want to do or threatened by someone who might say that they have been there and done that. It is for these reasons that in my opinion the perfect candidate for this role would be Anna Richardson who is the presenter of channel 4’s ‘The Sex Education Show’ and regularly talking to large groups of teenagers about serious topics.
Episode 1: Lift Off
During the first webisode of the Magical Journey Through Further Education will follow three completely different students looking to have a future in different job roles. These students will be looking at the different ways in which you can look at a college course, by going to open days/evenings and talking to lecturer’s and maybe even current student’s by asking them what they think of the course, checking out a college website and watching video’s of what past students have done while at the college.
The lighting for this episode would need to be completely neutral especially when the student’s are looking at the different courses throughout the college so not to divert the audience away from that particular course that they are looking at, at the time.
Episode 2: Into The Furnace
This episode will rejoin with the students from the episode before two weeks into their college course. This will show the audience how fast the course takes to get going which will give them a good insight to what will come up for them. There will be more interviews with the students in this episode so that the audience know how the students feel this far into the course. There will be a short blackout and there will be a flash forward to the end of the first year where the students express their opinion on their first year at the college and whether they are looking forward to the second year or not.
Episode 3: To Infinity And Beyond
The students will be going through their final assignment at college and the audience will see how mad everything at the end of the course when the students are trying to hand everything in before the deadline. There will be interviews with the students whether they are dealing with the stress to hand in everything in on time. There will be another flash forward to the students after they have finished college when starting university or going into a new job.
In conclusion to this series it will be very informative to future students on making decision about the future and how to approach it. Hopefully this series will help them to make their own decisions and not to follow the crowd to follow their own ambitions.
